1.Inauguration

Inaugurated by Mr. Mukesh MLA.

Orientation Day
Date: 9-7-2018 and 10-7-2018
Time 10 – 4pm
A 2- Day orientation program
was arranged for our very first LISSians in two batches on 9th and
10th July and 16th and 17th of July 2018.
The
chief guest invited for the program was MK Ramachandran, former Principal
SGHSS, Kottarakkara. The inaugural function commenced with a Prayer and
dignitories lighted the lamp.
As for the addressing speech,
our chairman, Dr.MohanLal .K introduced the vision of LISS and explained what
the college has to offer to the young minds.
OurPrincipal, Dr.Devi Raj
briefed the students on the curriculum, the subjects and hours they have to
take in each academic year.
The chief guest MK
Ramachandran shared his valuable thought on the improving Administrator Mental
Health of Adolescents in our society.
Our Admin, Mr.Shyno AP shared his
thought on the role of social scientist in the present scenario.
Our Vice Principal, Iswarya.L
gave away the Vote of Thanks thus concluding the official inaugural functions.
The
program was designed to reduce the first time college goer’s anxiety and break
their ice with the management, faculties, classmates and importantly the vision
and mission of our institute.
Thus,
prior to the beginning of classes’ students were given an overview of the
complete realm of life at LISS, from academics to social activities that they
will be involved in for the next four years.
Essential
and meaningful activates were organized by the teaching faculty for the benefit
of the students with an aim to introduce the field of psychology and to get to
know their soon to be classmates.
The activities also helped the
students become socially integrated into the college’s culture.
.3. Hiroshima Nagasaki Day
Date: 7-8-2018 Time 11-12.30pm
In association with URI Zero
Limit CC, the day was observed with a message of “No war Need Peace”. A special
PEACE assembly was organised. A day long
program including elocution competition, poster making and quiz competition
were conducted.
4.
Flood relief response
Date: 11-8-2018 Time: 10 –
1.00pm
After fateful episodes of
flood that it kerala and left many homeless a flood relief response team was
set up including all the Lissians. Lissians contributed to relief materials
(Dress, stationary,everyday essentials) which were collected and packed as rehabilitation
kit.
5.
Independence day
Date: 15-8-2018 Time: 10-11am
Lissians celebrated the day
with love and respect for their country.
The Chairman Hoisted the TRI Colour in the college hallway. Celebration
activities included patriotic song competition.
6.
Onam celeberation
Date: 15 – 8 -2018 Time: 11 –
1pm
A low-key celebration o the
state”s festival was celebrated on the same day of independence day.
Traditional Competitions included Onapookalam, Onapaatu and sundharikku pottu
thoda
7.
Psycho social intervention at Pandanadu
Date: 29 – 8 – 2018
Team consisting of26 Lissians
along wit faculty members and senior leaders of URI and HAI carried out a need
analysis at Pandanadu, th most affected area due to Kerala Flood.
8.
World Suicide Prevention Day
Date: 10 – 9 – 2018 Time: 8pm
LISS Family observed the world
suicide prevention day on 10th of September 2018. A week long
activities were planned and carried out. As a part of the observation, all the
Lissians stood united and lighted candles at their homes at 8pm and posters
were made in connection with the theme.
9. Punarjani Suicide Prevention Awareness Camp
Date: 14 – 9 – 2018
An awareness campaignon
Suicide prevention was conducted at
KIPS, Kottarakara. A mime depicting the emotional and cognitive challenges
experienced by people forcing them to have suicide ideatons, attempts and how
they can get over these emotional barriers was enacted by the Lissians.
Lissians were appreciated for their remarkable performance.
Pledge against suicide was
encouraged.
10.
Venad fest
Date: 14 – 9 – 2018 to 22 – 9 –
2018
PRDC participated at the Venad
fest to get in touch with the public to create awareness on need and
availability of counselling in todays society.
11.
International guest : Ms Dennise Rose
Date: 18 – 9 – 2018
Liss
had its first international guest Mr. Dennise rose, Director of Mouth That
Roars, UK, a renowned organization working with children from all around the
world. The students were given a wonderful opportunity to interact with the
international social figure and ask questions related to social problems,
challenges faced by youth in mental health sector in UK and how budding
psychologist in Indian can bring about a change in the society.
12.
Internatonal Day of Peace
Date: 21 – 9 – 2018
International Day of Peace,
created by the UN with the aim to strengthen the ideals of peace within and
among all nation and all people was celebrated at LISS. The day was observed in
association with URI by conducting poster competition among Lissians. Students
were given opportunity to explain them they have used in their poster

International Day for Elderly People – Kollam Marathon
Date: 30 – 9 – 2018
LISS family enthusiastically
joined hands with District police Kollam and participated in Kollam Marathon
and mini marathon conducted by the city police. Assistant Collector Ms.
Illaikkia Flaged off the event. 13 Lissians including their principal
participated in the event and all of them successfully completed their maiden
marathon and received medals and certificates
14.
Gandhi Jayanthi: Swach Bharath
Date: 2 – 10 – 2018
In association with City
Corporation , Kollam the Lissians
observed Gandhi jayanthi and as responsible citizens undertook cleaning
activities at Ashramam ground, Kollam.
15.
Drawing Competition on Swach Bharath Theme
Date: 3 – 10 – 2018
Following the cleaning
activities conducted on October 2nd, a drawing competition on the
theme swach bharath was also conducted at the college.

Nuclear Disarmament Week
Date: 24 – 10 -2018 to 30 – 10

We at LISS observed the week
by writing letters to the U N Secretary general by showing our solidarity
towards the initiative taken by U N on non-proliferatin treaties. The students
also shared their thoughts and concern about nations having such destructive
weapon and the need for tackling situations that may arise wit usage of these
weapons.
18.
Grand Welcome Reception of Dr. Abraham Karickam
Date: 24 – 11 – 2018
Dr Abraham Karickam Secretary
General URI Asia/India and founder of KIPS, Karungapally who represented
India/Asia and successfully presented a paper in 7th Parliament of
world religions at Toronto in Canada. We at LISS were proud of his achievement
and organised a grand reception ceremony to honour Dr Abraham Karickam. The
Lissians got a golden opportunity to have an interactive session with him.
A cultural program was also
arranged to entertain the guests.
19.
Disaster Management Training at Kottayam
Date: 27 – 11 – 2018 to 29 –
11 – 2019
Three talented Lissians were
selected for attending a national training workshop on Disaster Maagement at
Kottayam. The participants received training on handling and undertaking
first-aid and fire and safety measures.
20.
Exam planning and preparation
Date: From 26 – 11 - 2018
As junior trainers, Lissians
visited several schools in Kollam district and provided helpful sessions on
Exam Planning and Preparation to thousands of higher secondary students. They
were highl appreciated for their skill and effective training methods.
21.
Mental Health Survey
As interns at PRDC, Lissian
played a vital role in data collection of an initiative of PRDC to assess
analyse the mental health status of adolescent student of High school and
higher secondary schools in Kollam.
22.
World AIDS Day
Date: 1 – 12 – 2018
World AIDS Day was observed by
the Lissians by making posters to create awareness among people about AIDS. An
elocution competition was also conducted to share and exchange views on the
problems faced by those affected by the disease and how society can bring a
positive impact on their recovery and life.
23.
International Human Rights Day
Date: 10 – 12 -2018
Lissians observed the
Interntional Human Rights Day by each one of them quoting articles from The
Universal declaration Human Rights adopted y United Nations. A one minute video
of each Lissian quoting their selected artice was captured .
24.
Teenline
Date:15 – 12 - 2018
PRDC initiated a helpline (a
portal for telephonic counselling) for teens. The Lissians worked as intern for
introducing the project and actively worked for creating awareness and
installing the service at various schools in and around Kollam district. They
were successful in collaborating the Teenline service with 108 schools.
25.
Interfaith Christmas Celebration
Date: 22 – 12 -2018
In association with URI Zero
Limit CC, an interfaith Christmas celeberation was organised at Laa De’
Institute of Social Science. The program started with multi religious prayers
comprising of Hindu, Christian and Muslim prayers. A skit depicting the birth
of Jesus Christ, carol dance, carol songs and other cultural programs were
arranged.
26.
New Year
Date: 1 – 1 – 2019
Lissians celeberated the New
Year Day in association with URI Zero Limit CC. We started the day by each
one of us lighting a candle with a
prayer in our heart for world peace. New Year messages were shared by the
Chairman, Principal, Administrator, Vice Principal and faculties to their
beloved students.
27.
International Guest: Mr. Ravi Kandage
Date: 5 – 1 – 2019
The Lissians got yet an other
golden opportuity to interact with another Internationaly renowned social
reformer, Mr Ravi Kandae from Sri Lanka, URI Zero Limit CC. Mr.
Kandage shared with the students his valuable experiences , values and thoughts
on social change and bringing changes and impacting lives of the poor and those
sidelined in their own community. And also how his involvement in these activites
has changed him to better. Students got one of their best interactive session
with the man of vision.
28.
International Thanks Giving Day
Date: 11 – 1 – 2019
Lissians celebrated the
International Thanks Giving Day in association with URI Zero Limit CC by making
Thanks Giving cards to express their gratitude towards their beloved parents,
teachers friends and family. Videos of students expressing their gratitude and
love to people belonging to different religion from their own, and thanking
them for making the difference were also captured.
29.
Republic Day
Date: 26 – 1 – 2019
Lissians celebrated the
Repulic day enthusiastically. The Tri Colour was hoisted by the Administrator
who later briefed the students on the history of Indian Constitution. Cutural
diversity of the nation was considered and students wore different attires
belonging different states of the nation thus representing unity among
diversity. Patriotic song competition was conducted.
30.
Save Alappad Bike Rally
Date: 12 – 1 - 2019
PRDC initiated a “Save Alappad”
mission to extend its support to save a village by protesting again land mining
in the area. PRDC Chairman Dr. Mohan Lal flagged off the bike rally. The event
was made successful with the support of the event coordinator Lissian Vishnu .

Save Alappad Signature Campaign
Date: 13 – 1 -2019
Following the bike rally a
mass signature campaign was initiated at Alappad where people belonging to
different social strata came forwarded and supported the cause. PRDC was
successful in getting support from 1,00,000 signatories.
32.
International guest: Mr Auke Van and Ms.Hilgien from Netherlands
Date: 24 – 1 -2019
Lissians had their 3rd
internal guest and enjoyed a wonderful interactive session.
